You decide if this is for you…

This course is for you if you are a youth worker, educator, game designer or creative practitioner who has an idea, issue or challenge you want to explore through storytelling. You don’t need to be a professional writer or artist. You just need a story you want to tell.

What’s our goal?

Every challenge has a story. Every story has the power to make us feel, question and imagine something different. But turning a complex social or environmental issue into a story that truly moves people is an art.

Emotional Alchemy is a training course for youth workers, educators, game designers and other creators who want to use storytelling as a tool for social and environmental impact. Through characters, emotions, conflict and imagination, we will explore how creative works can make difficult issues tangible, personal and meaningful.

From board games to novels, from LARPs to films, from theatre scripts to RPG scenarios – there is no single medium for a story that matters. What matters is finding the form that gives your idea life.

During the training, you will use our Emotional Alchemy blueprint to transform a real-world challenge into the skeleton of an original creative work. You will experiment, play, roleplay, craft and share your ideas with other creators – leaving with a structured draft that you can continue developing long after the training ends.

We believe stories can do more than entertain. They can open conversations, challenge perspectives, create empathy and help people imagine new possibilities.

GOALS

  • Dive deeper into storytelling, narrative design and creative tools that can help turn complex social and environmental challenges into engaging and meaningful experiences
  • Open new collaborations and creative projects with a community of educators, youth workers, game designers and storytellers interested in using creative practice for learning and social impact
  • Prepare for the optional continuation, development and testing of your creative work after the training, with opportunities to receive feedback, collaborate and take your prototype or draft further

OUTCOME

Develop the foundations of an original creative work. Create the skeleton of a story or creative work that you can continue developing after the training, from board games, LARPs and RPGs to novels, films, theatre scripts and other forms of storytelling, using the Emotional Alchemy blueprint
